How to balance Christmas festivities and deadlines

Whilst Christmas can often be seen as a magical time of year, this is a very stressful time for students with lots of deadlines coming up. In this blog we will be discussing how you can mange your time effectively and manage your stress so you are still able to fit in some festivities.

Time management and study scheduling

First I would recommend setting out all your deadlines in a row with dates of which is which and when everything is due.

Next make coursework plans. Make step by step plans of what you need for each section of the coursework. This should help you break it down as well as estimating how long it will take.

Then create a calendar, putting on when everything is due. Make sure to try and get everything done a day before the deadline so you have the last day to heck over everything and check it is all done.

You can split the sections into your calendar.

However, it is important you do have time to relax during this time too. Doing too much work can lack your concentration and make you more stressed. Taking breaks and spending time with friends is important to stay happy and healthy.

Here are some suggestions on fun festive activities you can do that don’t take too much time so you can do them during the festive season whilst still working:

  • Christmas colouring - Colouring is a great way to be mindful and relax and have fun at the same time. You can do this with friends or family and have some snacks whilst doing so.
  • Put up a Christmas tree - You can buy a small one for your flat in shops like B&M with some mini baubles to make your flat look super festive whilst also putting some tinsel up.
  • Bake some festive gingerbread - This can be a super fun baking activity that you can do with your friends and have a delicious snack at the end.
  • Watch a Christmas movie - There are lots of Christmas classics on Netflix which can be great fun to watch.

Another great way you can relax and have some time off is come along to one of our Reslife events. We have lots of festive events this December such as Christmas crafts and waffle making.

Remember it is important to have some time off whilst also relaxing and enjoying the time and still getting your deadlines done.

Going to the library can also help as it is important to get out of the house rather than just sitting in the same place as it is important to get some fresh air and a change of scenery.

We hope this blog has been helpful and hope you enjoy a fun festive period!
