Looking for the perfect place to call home during your studies? Bishop Gate is the ideal student accommodation for University of Coventry students. With modern rooms, top-notch facilities, and a vibrant community, you’ll have everything you need to thrive.
Watch our welcome tour video and take a look through the essential information below to find out everything you need to know.
Bishop gate
When you arrive, you will be given a temporary access card which will give you access to all core doors (entrance and doors leading to your flat), get you through the speed gates at reception, and give you access to your block, flat and bedroom.
Once you have enrolled, your Student ID card will provide you with the same access as the temporary card so you will need to give the temporary card back to reception. Failure to return this will result in a charge of £10.
Please note that there is a privacy button on the inside of your bedroom door. This can be pushed in whilst you are inside the room, however, do ensure it is not pushed in when you leave your bedroom. If the button is pushed in when you leave your bedroom, you will be locked out and will need to come down to reception to be let back into the bedroom.
Bishop Gate is a NO SMOKING building! If you wish to smoke, please smoke outside the building, at least 20 meters away from the block entrance.
Please ensure cigarette ends are disposed of in the smoking bins provided and not dropped on the ground.
Download the Wayfinder App to help you get around. Use it to access a Campus Map, your timetable, Protection Services, Aula for course materials and much more.
Heating times are 7am - 10am and 4pm - 11pm
Hot water times are 6:30am - 11pm
WE DO NOT allow extra portable heaters in your room or additional fridge/freezers - this is a breach of your terms and conditions and is a Health and Safety risk. For a full list of prohibited items, please refer to your Licence to Occupy.
This is a Wi-Fi building – on your device please scan for available Wi-Fi networks and select GLIDE. If you encounter any problems, please contact Glide on 0333 123 0115 or email studentsupport@glide.co.uk to advise you best with your issues.
Please do not put pictures/posters/LED strip lights on the walls in your room - blue tac will leave an oily residue, cellotape can peel the paint off and pins will make holes in the walls.
Also, please do not keep high amounts of cash in your room, we strongly encourage you to open a UK bank account (if you do not already have one). Or, if you need to have a certain level of cash on your being, please purchase a lockable security box and put this in a safe place. If you do purchase one, please do not discuss it with anyone.
Should you have deliveries while you are residing here, reception collects all parcels/letters delivered.
For parcels, you will receive an email to say you can come and collect these from us during reception opening hours.
Any letters will be placed in your post box at the reception area - your post box key will have been given to you on arrival or will be in your flat kitchen on your noticeboard for all residents to use (depending on your room type). Please ensure that once you have finished using the key it is put back up in the kitchen for others to use if in shared living.
Please ensure you keep this safe - a lost key will incur a charge of £5.00. There is also an Amazon locker outside block which you can access 24/7.
The social space in the reception area has:
- Pool table (borrow pool cues and balls from reception)
- Table tennis table (borrow rackets and balls from reception)
- Payable vending machine
- Managed printer by the study room
There is also another small social space in block B, past the laundry room, which has:

You can only have one overnight guest at a time, and you can have a maximum of 2 nights in a 7-day period.

There are recycling bins and general waste in your room. Please ensure to separate your waste correctly.
- Before of disposing of any recycling items, be sure to rinse out any food residue.
- You may recycle glass, paper & cardboard, tins & cans, yoghurt pots, and plastic drink bottles.
- Any other items should be disposed as general waste.
You are responsible for emptying your rubbish into the correct bins which are outside each block. Please ask if you're unsure where it is. Please ensure rubbish is removed regularly to prevent flies and maggot infestations. There will also be a food waste bin appearing in your room at a later date – solely for your food waste.
Your room is your responsibility whilst living in Halls. You will need to supply your own waste bags and regularly take your waste bags to the bins which are located outside the blocks, please throw your waste in the appropriate bin – general (green) and recycle (blue).
