Things to do in Coventry this summer

Here’s everything you can get up to

Summer is fast approaching, and who doesn’t love the sunshine (fingers crossed). There is lots to do in Coventry over the summer, and in this blog we'll share our top recommendations.

Coombe Abbey Park

If you haven't been to Coombe Abbey Park yet, it is a great way to explore the green part of Coventry and feel like you are in the countryside for the day. Just a short bus ride or Uber split away, this place is the perfect chill area. It has acres of lakes, trails, and open green spaces.

Bring snacks, a speaker, and your best playlist. I have had many picnics here, and it's a great spot, especially with the weather getting better. There are a lot of spots to sit and relax in, either by yourself or chill with friends. Entry is free, and there is also a lovely cafe which has delicious ice cream to enjoy. It also has some great walks, perfect for clearing your mind if you need a break from uni.

Go Ape

This is situated within Coombe Abbey Park and is a really fun day out with some fun outdoor adventure. This is Go Ape Coventry and it has high ropes, including the tree-top challenge and tree-top adventure. The course also has a Tarzan swing, double zip-line and even an axe-throwing activity too.

This is a really fun way to feel some adventure and have a bit of a different day out that you may not have done before! This is a strong personal recommendation from me!

Godiva Festival

This is a three-day music festival within War Memorial Park and makes for such a fun-filled weekend. This year it is from the 4th-6th July. There is an amazing lineup this year, including Clean Bandit, Marc Almond and Nathan Dawe. The prices are also really student-friendly, with day tickets starting from as low as £12.50.

It also has local artists and creative/interactive entertainment. There are also fairground rides and plenty of food to cover you for the day. Overall, it is a great day out and so much fun for everyone - a perfect memory-making event.

Pub quiz

The Phoenix does a great pub quiz every Sunday. They also have a beer garden for when the sun is out. Have a laugh and a drink (it doesn’t have to be an alcoholic one!) It is a great place for socialising and having fun with friends. The pub quiz isn't just for the pros, as it has a nice variety of questions, so get your team together and head on down.

There are lots of cafes too with some great places to sit outside, catch up with friends and enjoy a summer brunch. This includes Playwrights cafe, which has a lovely view of the canal in the sun.

Check out Fargo Village

Fargo Village has a great range of shops to explore. It has some cool vintage stores to get a bargain, lots of small local businesses including art, cakes and lots more. They also have some small independent food businesses to grab food and drinks whilst you’re there.

Be sure to head over their website to check out all of the events, but some upcoming ones include the summer vegan festival, vintage Vera, which has lots of vintage bargains, a summer makers market, lots of music events, Coventry Pride Festival and more. It is a great location with a great variety of things to do!

Now get out there and have a great summer in Coventry ☀️
