The Birmingham German Christmas Market is one of the UK's largest and most festive events, typically held in the city centre from mid-November to Christmas. Set in Victoria Square and along New Street, it offers  traditional German food, drinks, and crafts, including bratwurst, pretzels, mulled wine, and ornaments. The market features lively entertainment, including carol singers and live music, and is great to spend some time with your flatmates or friends. There is also aspects such as an ice rink and ferris wheel to turn it into a fun day out.

Christmas in Stratford-upon-Avon is a great festive trip and not too far from Coventry. The town is beautifully decorated with Christmas lights, and the Christmas market offers a variety of festive treats, handmade gifts, and seasonal food. Visitors can enjoy ice skating at the outdoor rink or take a magical evening walk along the River Avon. With its traditional Tudor buildings, Shakespeare's birthplace beautifully lit for the season, and cosy pubs, Stratford exudes a cosy, festive atmosphere perfect for celebrating the Christmas season.

London winter wonderland

Hyde Park Winter Wonderland in London is a spectacular annual winter event that transforms Hyde Park into a festive wonderland. Open from late November to early January, it offers a mix of attractions, including an ice skating rink, a giant observation wheel, a Christmas market, circus shows, funfair rides, and a Bavarian-themed village. With sparkling lights, seasonal food and drinks, and a variety of entertainment, it’s a great experience to spend the day with your friends or flatmates. You can get just an hour train from Coventry. 

Be sure to check out the student discounts when buying tickets for any of the above as many Christmas attractions do student tickets. Another great idea is to invest in a railcard a 16-25 one as this gets you reduced rail fairs to save some money on your travels.
