Setting up a study temple in your room can make a big difference in your focus and productivity. In my opinion, remodelling your space into one that is conducive and cosy for studying includes a few imperative ways. Here is how you can temporarily turn your room into a study temple:
First of all, clean up. A neat environment just means a neat brain. I cleaned everything on my desk and around old papers, stationery not in use, and everything of that sort. When the space was neat and clean, I felt less distracted and more in control over my study sessions.
Then, I turned my attention to the lighting. The best, of course, is natural light, but if that is not possible, then warm and soft artificial light would be the best alternative. I bought a good desk lamp with the facility of changing brightness by a mere turn. This would save my eyes from strain and, above all, create a cosy atmosphere. Further, I placed my desk near the window to avail myself of daylight whenever possible.
Another ingredient is comfort. I had an ergonomic chair installed instead of my old one to support my back while studying for longer intervals. Then again, I set a couple of cushions in front of me just in case I wanted to sit more comfortably. And, most definitely, you are encouraged to have a warm blanket next to you if it gets cold outside. Comfort is a factor that will play a big role in your studying time without getting fatigued.
A dedicated study zone is so important. I had, therefore, allocated a specific area of my room only for studying. It was necessary because it mentally separated my studies from other aspects where, in general, relaxation is engaged. I decorated this space with motivational quotes and images that inspire me. Having a visual reminder of my goals kept me always motivated and focused.
Furthermore, I put my phone on silent mode and also used software programs that block distracting websites during the times I studied. Secondly, I had to notify my friends and family members that I had entered study mode, which minimized interruptions. Set a timer for focused studies interleaved with brief breaks that maintain your concentration.
The difference maker was adding plants into my study space. I simply used a small potted plant and placed it on my desk. This really helped improve air quality and add fresh, natural touches that made the surrounding environment more tranquil. In fact, it was proven that greenery boosts your mood and productivity.
I organized all study material beforehand for easy access. I kept my notes, textbooks, and stationery arranged in folders and organizers so that I would not waste any time looking for materials during studies, which will hamper my concentration.
In short, converting your room into a study temple concerns the creation of an atmosphere that helps you foster concentration, comfort, and motivation. From cleaning up and optimizing the light to having comfort, designating the study zone, minimizing distractions, planting greens, to organizing materials this contributes to the development of a space fully supportive of your academic pursuits. In fact, with this change, my study sessions became more productive and enjoyable, hence easier to achieve my objectives.
