  • Visit local attractions like the Herbert Art Gallery or War Memorial Park.
  • Explore independent cafes and shops throughout FarGo Village, especially during their winter markets.

Warm up with Coventry campus eats

When the cold hits, comfort food becomes a necessity. Luckily there are many places to refuel on and around campus!

  • Enjoy international meals at The Hub from a range of food outlets.
  • Grab a hot drink or snack from one of the cafes on campus.
  • Or if you don’t mind a walk, you can treat yourself between study sessions with a warm pastry from Costa or Starbucks.

Good food and warm places, are the perfect winter study support!

Stay on track with exams and assignments

Winter often brings assessment season, but don’t panic, stay organised and you will do great! To help you stay organised you can:

  • Create a study timetable and break tasks into manageable pieces.
  • Make the most of the library and the quiet spaces available.
  • Practice past papers if you sit exams and ask your lectures for support early.
  • Take breaks, eat well and sleep properly!

Remember, you don’t have to do it alone. Academic support and wellbeing services are always available:

Beat the winter blues by looking after your wellbeing

Cold weather and shorter days can affect motivation, energy levels and mood, especially during busy academic periods. Prioritising your wellbeing can help you stay balance, productive, and positive throughout winter.

Here are some tips to look after your wellbeing:

  • Get outside during daylight hours, even for a short walk to go and get a festive drink.
  • Make time for your hobbies, fun activities and spend time with your friends away from coursework.
  • Use campus wellbeing services, Coventry University have their very own health and wellbeing team located in The Hub – find out more here
  • Stay active with the gym, sports clubs or just for a walk around Coventry.
  • Create cosy study spaces with warm lighting, blankets, and background music to stay comfortable and focused.

Winter can be a challenging period, but small habits can make a big difference to your mind, energy and overall wellbeing!

Spread kindness this winter: Volunteering opportunities

Winter is a great time to make a difference in the local community and build skills that look fantastic on your CV. Whether you have an hour a week or just a single afternoon to spare, there are plenty of ways to get involved and support others.

  • Support local food banks (you can donate food in most supermarkets or in reception if you live at Godiva Place or Bishop Gate).
  • Volunteer at charity shops, there are many charity shops in the city centre that are always looking for volunteers like British Heart Foundation and Cancer Research UK.
  • Help with holiday events and fund-raising initiatives around the city.
  • Offer time to peer support or mentor other students within your course or accommodation.

It is a rewarding way to stay connected, meet new people, and spread positivity during the colder months.
