How to be sustainable as a student
Living sustainably is not an impossible thing to do, it might actually be easier than you thought it will be!
Wondering how to become more susatainable as a student? Here are 3 tips for you.
1. Bring a reusable bottle with you
Possibly the simplest way to start reducing your plastic consumption is by switching to a resuable water bottle. You can carry it around with you wherever you go and not only will you saves money whilst taking your first step in sustainable living, you can also keep track of your water intake throughout the day - wow!
Investing in a reusable coffee cup is definitely a choice you will not regret making. Not only will you save a disposable coffee cup whenever you treat yourself a morning coffee, it will also saves you money too as most coffee shop offer a discount if you bring your own cup.
2. BYOB - bring your own bag
Another super easy life hack is to bring your own shopper (shopping bag) with you when you do your grocery shopping.
Sometimes I am guilty of not doing this as I tend to forget to bring a bag with me, but one of the ways to stick to this habit is to always put a shopper in the bag I will bring with me. If you are not a person who always carry a bag, you may find it useful to hang a shopper near the entrance of your room.
3. Recycle your waste
In university accommodations, there are recycling bins which you can use. If you don't have one, you can use different bags to separate the recyclable and non-recyclable rubbish.
Not sure if something is recyclable or not, there is a A-Z list for rubbish and recycling on the Coventry City Council website that you might want to visit. Here is also a simple diagram for you to have a look as well :
