There are plenty of alcohol-free activities in Coventry

Whether you're taking part in Dry January, choosing not to drink for personal reasons, or abstaining for religious beliefs, you might be wondering about fun, alcohol-free activities to enjoy around campus. Coventry has plenty of vibrant hotspots and experiences that don’t require any booze. Let’s take a look into some of the best sober-friendly options this city has to offer!

Tenpin Coventry

Tenpin Coventry is a great spot for anyone looking to enjoy a fun outing. Just on the outskirts of the town, this bowling alley offers much more than just bowling. It's a lively venue perfect for a great time with friends or family without the need for alcohol. Whether you're great at bowling, or just starting out and looking for some casual fun, the atmosphere is welcoming and inclusive. Tenpin also boasts a range of arcade games, pool tables, Karaoke rooms, and even laser tag, ensuring there’s something for everyone. There’s also food, drinks, and mocktails on offer!

Herbert Art Gallery & Museum

The Herbert Art Gallery & Museum is a perfect outing, offering a mix of art, history, and culture in a calm and reflective setting. From exhibitions to interactive displays, there’s something for everyone, whether you’re into fine art or local history. The art gallery will often rotate in what it has on display, so you can repeat the visit every new exhibit!

The War Memorial Park

This park offers scenic walks, landscaped gardens, and plenty of open space to relax. I personally visited to play some sports and enjoy a picnic with my mates! There are jogging trails and sports facilities to make use of too. With its iconic War Memorial and tranquil atmosphere, it’s a great spot to unwind and connect with nature, or a chill place to hang with mates! With no admission fee, it’s perfect for a cost-free meet-up spot.

Planet Ice

Planet Ice is a lively spot for skating. Perfect for all skill levels, it offers public sessions, lessons, and themed events. You can also take a break from all the falling over with a break at the café with snacks and non-alcoholic drinks. Events are fairly regular, so you can plan around what’s on offer if you’re looking for a more unique skating experience!

Escape Reality

Escape Reality makes for a very thrilling day out, perfect for groups of friends, family, or even team-building events. This immersive escape room experience challenges you to solve puzzles and work together to beat the clock and "escape" themed rooms like Enigmista or Jungala. With different difficulty levels, there’s something for everyone, whether you're a beginner or a born and bred escape artist. The adrenaline and teamwork make it a fun and engaging activity without the need for alcohol.

Best of luck to those trying their hand at Dry January. Pass the time with some fun with your flatmates and friends! Will you be trying any of these spots?
