My journey with ResLife

Posted 3 months ago

It has been a two and half year journey with ResLife for me

Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some stay for a while, leave footprints on our hearts, and we are never, ever the same.

I am nostalgic and sentimental as I write this blog today.

I first heard about ResLife when I started applying for university accommodation after my acceptance to Coventry University.

I started with following the ResLife account on Instagram, out of sheer curiosity!

I had read about what the concept of ResLife means and what they do, looking at their social media I was pleasantly impressed. I could not wait for my accommodation contract to start, I wanted to be part of all the fun and games at the end of the day.

I have had the privilege of being with ResLife as a resident, a student and as a member of staff. It has been a whirlwind of a journey for me.

I remember the way the staff and the assistants supported me during my initial days as an international student. I met lots of other residents and made friends through the endless events that ResLife ran at the accommodation halls. Its makes me very happy and proud that I could do the same for them as an RLA.

The trips to Liverpool, Nottingham, Manchester, Bath, Morgan Motors, Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwick Castle, Scarborough campus and so much more have been thrilling and has kept my wanderlust alive.

Did I mention that all those trips were free !? Well, some of them probably cost me a five or a ten pounds max but the others were definitely free.

I explored sports, cooking, baking, crafts, art, bingo, movie nights, mocktail making and so much more !

I can tell what I am very bad at now after numerous attempts trying it as a resident and an assistant :)

The answer would be Crafts ! However, I have met so many talented residents who are absolutely amazing at what they do!

The multi-cultural events bring students to the events and we meet people from all over the world, learn new facts, new games, new languages and bonds for a lifetime are created.

In my other blog, you can read about what I did, what it meant and how it all went. This blog is more of a reflection and reminiscing about my time as a resident followed by being a ResLife Assistant.

I had the honour of working with one of the best teams including the ResLife Manager, Co-ordinators and other assistants.

What I have learnt as a member of staff, the skills and advice from colleagues, I shall carry them in my heart for future endeavours.

I would forever be indebted to the team for coming through for me in every difficult phase. I have grown as a person and I am proud to be an RLA!

Signing off for now!

Yours Sincerely,
