It's finally that time of the year when we say goodbye to winter and a big hello to spring! With the sun coming out more and the temperature going up, it's time to get your best picky bits together.

Here are some great spots in the city for a solo date or for you and your mates to gather together for the best picnic:

Coombe Abbey Park | CV3 2AB

Coombe Abbey Park is the best overall for a full day out as well as a picnic, offering 500 acres of gardens, woodland and lakeside walks.

War Memorial Park | CV3 6PT

For the historical fans, this park offers landmarks, sculptures and themed gardens around the site, so it can make a nice day out as well as a spot for lunch.

Brandon Marsh Nature Reserve | CV3 3GW

A quieter, nature-focused spot makes for a peaceful picnic spot, if you're looking for a solo spot to connect with nature or if you and your friends need to unwind after a week of lectures. It features a big open woodland and different pools.

Caludon Castle Park

This park features medieval ruins and a large open green space, perfect for a unique, smaller picnic - beautiful in the summer!

Ryton Pools Country Park | CV8 3BH

Ryton Pools consists of 100 acres and contains four pools, the largest of which covers approximately 10 acres. It's a lovely spot to watch nature go by and perfect for an afternoon walk after your picnic.

When the sun's out, Coventry and its surrounding areas come alive with beautiful green spaces that are ideal for a laid-back picnic, and for students, this can be a great time to be free from your study sessions and step into a bit of nature.
