Having guests stay over in halls?

Posted 2 days ago

Here’s everything you need to know

Whether it’s your best mate visiting from back home or your sibling dropping in for the weekend, it’s always nice to have a familiar face around. But if you’re living in our accommodation, there are a few things you need to know before inviting someone to stay over. Here's your guide to the guest policy so you don’t get caught out.

Can I have guests stay overnight?

Yes - FutureLets allows you to have one overnight guest at a time. But there are some rules:

  • They can stay for a maximum of 2 nights in any 7-day period.
  • You’ll need to get approval from your hall manager before they stay.
  • To do that, submit an overnight guest request form before 4pm (16:00) on the day of the stay.
  • If your guest is staying over the weekend, make sure the form is in by 4pm on Friday.

It’s all pretty straightforward as long as you plan ahead!

What about guests during the day?

Totally fine! Friends or family can visit during the day and hang out in your flat or communal spaces. But:

  • They’ll need to sign in at the hall reception.
  • Day guests must leave by 11pm (23:00). No overnight stays without approval.

So if you’re having a mini movie night or just grabbing dinner with a friend, you're all good, as long as they head off by the curfew.

How do I submit a guest request?

Check with your reception for your hall’s specific process. Usually, it's a quick online form or a physical form at reception. If you’re unsure or have any other questions about requesting, you can always speak with your hall manager. They’re there to help and make sure things go smoothly.

Staying in a partner hall?

Guest policies might be slightly different if you’re living in a partner-managed hall. In that case, check with your hall reception directly to make sure you're following the right process.

Make sure your guests follow the same rules as you do

  • Don’t forget, you’re still responsible for your guest’s behaviour, so make sure they follow the hall rules and respect your flatmates.
  • Always be mindful of noise, especially if it's late.
  • If you’re not sure whether something’s allowed, just ask reception. It’s better to double-check than accidentally break the rules.

Having a guest over is a great way to feel at home in halls. So fill in that form, stock up on snacks, and enjoy your visitor!
