A guide on settling into university
Moving to university is a big milestone and sometimes it can be really hard to navigate a new setting when everything is new. Here is a short guide on how to find your feet and get settled in for a new experience.
- Make a checklist. When moving to university, it is important to learn how to manage everything accordingly and one way to do this is by forming a checklist of all the essentials you may need. This helps with keeping things organised and easy to remember
- Make your space your own. Your accommodation is your space, so make it your own. Personalise it the way you want. You could add pictures, posters and little touches to your room to make it feel like your own.
- Take a tour. Explore the city you’ve moved to. Coventry is a great place to eat, shop and socialise so go out and get to know your surroundings.
- Get involved early. Check out all the societies, sports clubs and extracurricular activities to become part of. This is the fastest and easiest way to meet people and connect over things you’re all interested in.
- Look after yourself. Cook proper meals. Try and work out. Stay on top of university work and assignments, but also don’t forget to enjoy spending time with new friends, go out and make new memories.
Being your own person is more important while adjusting to university life than "fitting in" right away. Keep an open mind to new experiences, have patience, and remember that everyone else is also learning.
